In the latest news about The Witcher 4, known as Project Polaris, it’s clear this won’t be just a copy of The Witcher 3. According to MichaƂ Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s joint CEO, there will be new gameplay mechanics.

During a Q&A session after their financial report for Fiscal Year 2023, Nowakowski was asked about the remaining development time for The Witcher 4. He didn’t give a specific time because sharing that would hint at a release date, which they don’t want to do yet.

Nowakowski mentioned that revealing release dates is part of their marketing plan, something they’re not ready for. He also talked about the risks of making a new game with new features, but assured fans that The Witcher 4 won’t just be a repeat of the previous game.

He explained that while they’re building on what they’ve learned before, they’re also adding new gameplay elements and mechanics. This is a risk, he said, but it’s necessary for innovation.

Nowakowski also revealed that Project Polaris is their most developed project right now, even though it’s still in the early stages. They plan to start full production later this year, which is exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting The Witcher 4.
